Photography Location Shoot

Armed with an enormous pile of art and design, we climbed aboard a 1960s steel hulled lightship that’s being transformed into an amazing space for creative people.

A couple of weeks ago we welcomed the team from RedBubble on board for a photo shoot of some of their latest art and design stock. If you don’t already know, Redbubble is quite simply the finest and most diverse creative community and marketplace on the interweb. With artists and designers hailing from every corner of the globe, displaying eye opening talent, skill, passion and enthusiasm for all forms of creativity there really is no better place for you to get your artistic kicks.

Update September 2013:

After over 18 months of working on the CPP Swale and Medway project LV21 stepped down from our role as a consortium member. We continue to deliver the Lookout project as an independent delivery partner only. We are now able to concentrate our attention on the further development of LV21 and our exciting programme of new activities.

Arts Council England officially announced today that  LV21 & project partners have been successful in applying for a commissioned grant from its Creative People and Places programme. This substantial £1.5 million investment over the next three years will make a real difference to the communities of Swale and Medway. The long-term aim of our ‘Creative People and Places: Swale & Medway’ vision is to enable local people to shape the cultural provision of where they live; through a spirit of creative collaboration and the art of doing. We are the only successful applicant from the South East region. Read more

LV21 Coast Magazine

We’re fans of Coast magazine here at LV21 so it was extra special to see Light Vessel 21 featured in the July 2012 issue, available now. Päivi appears in this month’s ‘coastal character’ article.

We’re planning a range of activities and performances over the summer months (news coming soon) so make sure you sign up to our newsletter and social networks to keep up to date with all our latest events.

Last week we were visited by BBC Radio Kent and web team. We will be participating in a live broadcast on the BBC Radio Kent breakfast show 8.30am Monday 25th Jan when you can hear ex crew member Brian Packham recount his experiences on board and his memories of the collision at Varne in 1981. For a taster of Brian’s story go to the audio slideshow on the BBC website where you can also read the news article. Read more
