Step aboard historic Light Vessel 21 for a ship full of entertainment to get into the festival mood. LV21 will be awash with site-specific arts interventions and performances both below decks and in the open air.

Spoke ’n’ Word – A Pedal Powered Poetry Slam
Words will fly on deck as performance poets battle for audience votes to be crowned the winner of the Spoke ’n’ Word Slam aboard LV21. Featuring some the UK’s hottest spoken word talent from Joelle Taylor to Dan Simpson alongside young people from across Medway, this is an event not to be missed. All the energy to amplify the slam will be generated by Wheely Groovy and the pedal-powered efforts of the audience.

Human Foghorn – Calling Out Medway
Sounds of a human foghorn, featuring voices of Medway residents, will guide you onboard LV21 to meet artists Jim Backhouse and Magz Hall from Radio Arts. They invite you to add your powerful voices to the growing collection of Medway sounds.
‘I am not dead…’ – A site-responsive touring installation
Join artists Chris Rutter and Evelyn Bennett below deck in their unique visual space to explore the rich imagery and unravel influences of the previous locations of this travelling installation which started as a street art intervention in Berlin, then reinvented itself in a hotel room in Zurich and the Duchamp festival in Herne Bay before stepping aboard LV21 to add Medway layers to its archeological timeline for the next stop, a small castle near Rimini.

Screening of the documentary ‘Graphic Novel Man’ focusing on the career of award-winning British comic artist Bryan Talbot.
Fuse Arts Lab with LV21

Time to let your hair down and join in the very first Fuse Arts Lab aboard LV21. An entertaining social gathering for the local and touring Fuse artists and festival audiences alike. A relaxing evening of networking and fun to get you immersed in the festival spirit.
Throughout the evening artists Chris Rutter and Evelyn Bennett continue to grow their “I am not dead…” installation and the Bryan Talbot documentary is screening continuously. Dance to the groovy tunes of the resident DJ or just sit back, relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
Complimentary drink and nibbles served on arrival.
Cash pay bar open onboard until midnight.
