LV21 Embarks On A New Journey

We’re pleased to announce that LV21 has been awarded Arts Council England Grants for the Arts funding for a 5-month Research & Development activity with focus on identifying new opportunities for organisational development and growing our artistic ambition through exploring the rich cultural landscape of Gravesham and connecting with the wider arts and culture sector across Kent.

This funding together with invaluable support from Gravesham Borough Council and Kent County Council Creative & Cultural Economy Service, provides a unique opportunity for us to test new ground, unlock new potential, build collaborative partnerships and develop longer-term plans and progression routes to enable a supportive contribution to the local arts and culture led regeneration plans.

We’re preparing to lift anchor in late August / early September to sail over to Gravesend on the River Thames to take part in the new Estuary Festival, where we will host a number of festival events and new artwork by well-established artists commissioned by Metal Culture aboard the ship.

During the R&D activity from August to December 2016, we will deliver a series of community participatory, arts-led taster sessions and public events through four artist-in-residencies, commissioning artists with strong links to Gravesham across art forms. We’ll announce further details about the programme soon and are really looking forward to start work on this exciting project!
