A SONG FOR KENT | WALKING EACH OTHER HOME

Come along to St Andrew’s Quayside for the Live Premiere of A Song For Kent, Walking Each Other Home.

Composed by Tania Holland Williams, this new song has been inspired by the people of Kent and will be performed by RiverVoice Community Choir and Fat Lady Opera Community Chorus from aboard LV21 to audiences on the surrounding quayside.

A Song For Kent celebrates friendship and kindness against a backdrop of isolation and solitude. It is a response to the Ram Dass quote: We are all just walking each other home. During the commission process, Tania has collaborated with other Kent based musicians and spoken to local people whilst on a series of walks spanning the Kent coast from Hythe to Gravesend, capturing thoughts and feelings of this challenging time through a series of ‘companionship’ telephone calls. Instagram account @walk.ingeachotherhome provides a photographic record of the walks.

FREE online stream of Walking Each Other Home will be available at asongforus.org from Wednesday 11 August 12.30pm for 12 months.

A Song For Kent has been co-commissioned by LV21 and SoundUK as part of A Song for Us, a nationwide project conceived and produced by Sound UK.
