Play on Words Youth Theatre presents
Shipwrecks & Siren Songs: A Seafaring Sharing

An LV21 ‘Takeover’

This ‘Takeover’ performance coincides with the wider 63rd launch anniversary celebrations of the ship in September and also marks the month of the World Rivers Day 2026.

An evening of shipwrecks, stories, sea shanties and siren songs… an immersive interactive nautical whodunnit, guiding the invited audience of parents, carers, families and friends of the young performers aboard LV21.

This live presentation is an opportunity for the students to experiment and understand the importance of creating theatre in unique spaces, immersive and promenade performance.

A visit aboard LV21 followed by weekly workshops during the term leading up to this showcase taught the students theatre techniques and practices through drama games and exercises to explore the idea of creating work inspired by stimulus, in this case - a 40 metre, 500 tonne, steel-hulled lightship - a floating local arts hub!

Devised by the Youth Theatre Company For Play on Words Youth Theatre, a branch of Play on Words Theatre, facilitated by local performers and drama facilitators Tommy Murray and Hayley Everitt. Artistic Directors for Play on Words (local long-running theatre company): Miriam Cooper & Aidan Dooley.
