Yuka Jourdain Workshop
‘Giving a feather to migratory birds’ workshop with Yuka Jourdain
To mark the Windrush Day 2022, we have been celebrating the migration of people as well as birds to the UK.
Come join jeweller Yuka Jourdain aboard the ship to create a colourful migratory bird brooch. Using a pre-cut bird-shaped wooden piece, participants will create a beautiful brooch by adding colourful felt feathers through needle felting, stitching and embellishing it with materials of choice.
During this informal and relaxed workshop you will make your very own a wearable piece of jewellery, inspired by migration and appreciating the Thames Estuary and the surrounding rich habitat in Kent that attracts a variety of endangered migratory bird species to the area, including those on the Red List of birds in the UK. This workshop especially highlights waders on the Red List that can be seen in Kent.
Yuka will also give a short introduction to her background and practice as part of the workshop.
FREE but pre-booking is recommended as places are limited. Places are allocated on first come, first served basis. To book your place please email info@lv21.co.uk.
Suitable for 16+. Younger participants are welcome to take part in the activity with responsible adult supervision at all times. No previous experience required. All materials, equipment and guidance provided. Duration to complete the brooch making approx. 2 hours.
Tea, coffee, juice, water, biscuits and snacks provided. Please bring your own lunch if you like.
