On 17th Nov 2024 LV21 departed Gravesend riverside full ahead for Anchor Wharf at The Historic Dockyard Chatham. Over the next couple of weeks the crew will be installing access steps and preparing the ship for visitors. In the meantime we continue to work on our ongoing projects in the community including Whose Hoo & RiverSwell.

LV21 Transforms ‘Trash to Treasure’ at Gravesham in Bloom
The Trash to Treasure project is series of community participatory artist led creative workshops to create coastal and recycling themed temporary art installations for Gravesham in Bloom 2015. The aim of the project is to engage the community into the Gravesham in Bloom themes through a high quality and inspiring arts experience.
Jon Adams: Look About
Look About is a two-year mapping and collecting project led by Portsmouth based artist/geologist Jon Adams in response to Accentuate and the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad in the South East of England. This creatively driven, multilayered project weaves together science and art, digital and analogue, and Jon’s autobiographical experiences.
ILLW Open Days & The Lighthouse Relay Exhibition
The crew at LV21 are once again pleased to be supporting the International Lighthouse & Lightship Weekend taking place on 20-21 August. We are also excited to announce the installation of Siren Signal, a sound sculpture exhibition by artist Steve McPherson commissioned for the International Lighthouse Relay and the Folkestone Fringe.
LV21 Wins Culture & Design Awards
Light Vessel 21 was recently awarded the Best Heritage Project at the Medway Culture and Design Awards. The Fuse Festival finale performance Focal Point also won in the Performing Arts category, an accolade we share with our collaborators Scarabeus and The World Famous.
LV21 hosts Tipple 101
Ok, so it took us some time to recharge our batteries after the spectacle of Focal Point, but the latest exciting news is that we will be hosting Tipple101 (aka Shipple) on board LV21 starting at 7:30pm on Tuesday 24th. Some light refreshments will be provided but please do bring your own coffee/beer/wine.
LV21 accredited as an Arts Award Centre
LV21 is now a registered Arts Award Centre, offering Arts Award at all three available levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Water Design Challenge with Southern Water & The Design Council
We are delighted to be working with the Design Council and Southern Water for the next few months on the Water Design Challenge, a pioneering new programme to inspire young people to cut their water and carbon footprint. We’ll be working with the Thomas Aveling School in Rochester and the Isle of Sheppey Academy.
1st Artist Commission – Andrew Baldwin
We’re pleased to announce that Andrew Baldwin is creating our first site specific commission for the ship. Here you can see him inside one of three midships air receivers removing redundant pipework that he will be incorporating into his sculptural piece.
